The Emergency Financial Assistance Program is intended to offer transitional support for emergency needs that are not considered medical in nature but have a direct impact on the survival and health of the transplant recipient.

Transitional, short-term support

The goal of the program is to provide relief for unforeseen emergencies that arise for solid organ transplant recipients for which this help can be expected to alleviate the crisis.

The program responds quickly to these emergency needs that are not considered medical in nature but have a direct impact on the survival and health of the transplant recipient, and offers transitional support while permanent plans are put into place.

How To Apply

Step 1. Confirm Eligibility

  • Be a Georgia resident
  • Be a solid organ transplant recipient
  • Show evidence of financial need
  • Provide evidence of working on a permanent solution to address the need
  • Have a need related to transplant

Step 2. Talk to your social worker

Discuss your need with your transplant center social worker.

Step 3. Complete Application

Submit a completed Emergency Financial Assistance application to your social worker, along with the documents to support the requested assistance. See Application Options for more details.

Step 4. Review

  • Applications will be reviewed, once submitted and complete
  • Requesting social worker will be notified regarding the review decision within three business days

Step 5. Funding Provided

Checks are written, payable to the vendor, and mailed to the transplant recipient's home.
