Learning that you or a family member needs a transplant, going through the evaluation process, waiting for the call, having the surgery, recovering, and then adjusting to &#8220;chronic wellness&#8221; &#8211; life after transplant &#8211; can be a wonderful but overwhelming, stressful, and anxious time. Mentors provide hope and encouragement, share their personal experiences, and most importantly, they&#8217;re good listeners. They offer support on an as-needed basis from a simple phone call to a hospital visit to personal meetings.
